Consumers are encouraged to develop their goals and accomplish them through daily participation in our program.

Rutgers Day School Child Program

Rutgers Day School is an out-of-district special education school for children ages 4 to 13 years whose psychiatric, behavioral, and learning problems are too severe to be educated effectively in their local school systems. Our school offers seven therapeutic classrooms with a total capacity of 56 children. Planned lengths of stay typically range from six months to three years.

Rutgers Day School Adolescent Program

The adolescent program at Rutgers Day School is a year-round special education and partial hospitalization program that integrates therapeutic, psychiatric, and special education services. We meet the complex needs of adolescents ages 13 to 21 years who suffer from significant anxieties, resentments, fears, and emotional challenges that negatively affect family life, social functioning, peer relationships, and academic achievements.

Our ambulatory withdrawal management program is a medically managed treatment alternative to inpatient detox. Individuals work closely with a psychiatrist to receive treatment on an outpatient basis. Our program includes withdrawal from opiates, sedatives, and hypnotics. While alcohol may be present, individuals with moderate to severe alcohol withdrawal are referred to a higher level of care.
