Provider Biography
Dr. Nelson grew up nearby in Teaneck, NJ. He graduated from Vassar College in 2008 with a BA in
Biochemistry and Dance and then moved to Boston, MA where he earned his MD in 2012 from the
Tufts University School of Medicine. After medical school he came home to the tristate area for
a Pediatrics residency at Jacobi Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in
Bronx, NY. He has been a member of the faculty at NJMS since completing his training.
At Jacobi, Dr. Nelson was heavily involved in medical education. He was honored with the Lewis
M. Fraad Department of Pediatrics Resident Award for Excellent in Medical Student Teaching and
the Leo M. Davidoff Society Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Teaching of Medical
Students.
Dr. Nelson currently works as a primary care pediatrician and a pediatric inpatient hospitalist
at University Hospital New Jersey. He also continues to be involved in medical education, both
working with the medical students and supervising and teaching the pediatrics residents at
NJMS. His research interests include feedback in medical education and treatment of asthma.
