Biography Overview Originally from Canada, Dr. Ignatiuk completed 2 years of orthopedic surgery residency training in London, Ontario and 4 years of plastic surgery residency training in Ottawa, Ontario before completing a prestigious hand and microvascular surgery fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. After practicing at the University of Colorado, Denver for almost 3 years, Dr. Ignatiuk has now joined the Division of Plastic Surgery as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery. With his diverse training and experience, Dr. Ignatiuk is capable of treating a wide variety of conditions throughout the body but is primarily known for adult and pediatric hand/wrist surgery, microvascular surgery, extremity salvage, and peripheral nerve surgery. Dr. Ignatiuk also has extensive experience in breast reconstruction, body contouring, and oncological reconstruction. Dr. Ignatiuk has helped pioneer the technique of wide awake hand surgery in the United States which allows a patient to avoid the risks of general anesthesia. Patients have been consistently more satisfied with their experience using this technique, have obtained better outcomes, and have received a better understanding of their treatment. Wide awake hand surgery is offered for many procedures including trigger finger release, carpal tunnel release, and tendon repairs among many other procedures. With advanced training in peripheral nerve surgery, Dr. Ignatiuk
