Behavioral Health
University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC) is an academically based behavioral health care practice that offers a broad range of services throughout New Jersey. We offer help to anyone who may be struggling with mental and emotional well-being.
From people managing mental illness, such as depression or personality disorder, to those struggling with substance abuse or addictive behaviors, we offer treatment to those of all age groups to help them take back control of life. We also work to advance the science of behavioral health care through research and educating the next generation of health care professionals.
Our mission is to provide evidence-based and compassionate behavioral health care and addiction services to individuals and families across New Jersey. Our practice also offers mental health services to inmates, residents, and parolees of the New Jersey Department of Corrections, the Juvenile Justice Commission, and the State Parole Board through University Correctional Health Care.
Physicians who provide care through UBHC are faculty members of Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School or Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, both part of Rutgers University, one of the top research institutions in America. Our doctors are active in research and teach about all aspects of behavioral health. Each brings leading-edge knowledge from the classroom to the exam room. Our affiliation with Rutgers medical schools also provides a distinct advantage to our patients by giving them access to the latest, most effective treatments as they journey toward recovery.
We offer many forms of assistance, including:
- Acute psychiatric services
- Adult inpatient and outpatient services
- Children, family, and geriatric services
- Crisis hotlines
- Crisis screening
