Endodontics

Rutgers Health University Dental Associates Endodontics focuses on diagnosing and treating tooth pain and infection, and saving teeth. We treat diseases that affect dental pulp, which is at the center of the tooth and is at risk for infection or inflammation. Compromised dental pulp is often the result of deep decay, faulty crowns, hairline cracks, or repetitive dental procedures.

Our endodontists work hard to save your teeth while also relieving the pain or infection at the root of the problem. All endodontists are on the faculty of Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, a part of Rutgers University, one of the top research institutions in America. Our experts have training in the latest endodontic techniques, and each brings leading-edge knowledge from the classroom to the exam room.

Endodontic Services

Root Canal Therapy

When the pulp of a tooth has an infection, it needs immediate assessment. Providing pain relief and treating the underlying infection will aid your health and help maintain your tooth’s integrity. New technologies allow our endodontists to see the tooth and surrounding bone even before treatment begins.

Our endodontists perform all root canal procedures under high-power dental microscopes, which provide clearer, close-up images of teeth. We perform our root canal procedures under local anesthesia, which helps reduce pain and leaves patients with only minor sensitivity afterward.

Endodontic Retreatment and Surgery

Teeth that receive root canal therapy can last a lifetime, but occasionally a tooth may not heal properly. If you are facing root canal failure or other problems, retreatment by one of our endodontists can give your tooth a second chance.

Our endodontists also perform surgical tooth-saving procedures such as:

  • Apicoectomy (removal of a tooth's root tip along with the filling of a root end cavity)
  • Hemisections (surgical removal of a root and its crown on a multi-rooted tooth)
  • Root amputations

If you or a loved one seeks treatment for tooth pain and infection, Rutgers Health University Dental Associates Endodontics can provide expert, compassionate care.
