Orthodontics

Rutgers orthodontists diagnose and treat facial and dental irregularities in the way teeth meet, helping children and adults bite, chew, and speak more effectively. Our orthodontists consider the growth and development of teeth and the alignment of jaws to help people get straighter teeth and greater self-confidence. We properly align teeth that will stay healthier over time and last longer. The American Association of Orthodontics recommends children see an orthodontist by age 7; however, we treat a growing number of adult orthodontic patients.

At Rutgers School of Dental Medicine clinics in Newark, graduate students with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) treat patients under the supervision of faculty. Often, this is a less expensive option. At Rutgers Health University Dental Associates, which has offices in New Brunswick and Newark, faculty treat patients directly in a private-practice setting.

Many of our orthodontists are faculty of Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, a part of Rutgers University, one of the top research institutions in America. Others are graduate students with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) who are training to be orthodontists. They are closely overseen by faculty. Our professionals and students are at the forefront of new research and technology. Faculty have training in leading-edge systems for tooth alignment and orthodontic application, and each brings expert knowledge from the classroom to the exam room.

Rutgers orthodontists also have experience in developing care plans for more complex cases. Our professionals often work with on-site oral surgeons to provide multidisciplinary care.
