Crohn’s and Colitis Center of New Jersey
Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, together known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), are complex inflammatory diseases of the intestines that affect tens of thousands of patients in New Jersey and three million across the United States. The Rutgers Health Crohn’s and Colitis Center of New Jersey provides comprehensive, compassionate care for patients with these challenging conditions.
The Rutgers Health Crohn’s and Colitis Center of New Jersey uses life-changing diagnostic and endoscopic methods along with patient education to provide IBD patients with the best chance of disease remission. We bring together a multidisciplinary team of clinicians who are experts in colorectal surgery, gastrointestinal pathology, radiology, psychiatry, and nutrition.
We are leaders in diagnostic and endoscopic methods including:
- Capsule endoscopy
- Chromoendoscopy
- Colonoscopy
- CT enterography
- Endoscopic balloon dilation of strictures
- MRI
- Therapeutic and diagnostic enteroscopy
We combine these methods with evidence-based clinical approaches and the latest in IBD treatments—including clinical trials. The center is also home to advanced IBD research, including studies focusing on
- Chemoprevention in IBD
- Ethnic variability in IBD
- IBD genetics
- Intestinal microbiome and diet related to IBD activity
- Treatment mechanisms
IBD patients benefit from the expertise of our physicians who are faculty members of Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, a part of Rutgers University, one of the top research institutions in America. Our doctors are active in clinical research and in teaching about all aspects of gastroenterology, as well as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Each brings leading-edge knowledge from the classroom to the exam room.
