Brain Tumor Treatment
The Rutgers Health Brain Tumor program is a comprehensive, multispecialty neurosurgical practice that provides life-changing care for brain tumors. We offer adults and children treatments that are minimally invasive with maximum precision.
Our practice treats each patient individually. We use a combination of computer-assisted minimally invasive surgery and radiosurgery, as well as single-dose and fractionated radiation therapy, to create the most effective combination of treatment. We also use state-of-the-art 3D MRI imaging in the detection of brain tumors, and intraoperative MRI to make tumor treatment more effective.
We are leaders in the use of intraoperative MRI scans and a compact MRI system to obtain real-time images of the brain before, during, and after surgery. The precise nature of these images ensures surgical navigation that minimizes risk of harming healthy areas of the brain, especially areas that directly control function, and helps with maximum lesion removal. We also continually pioneer new techniques and technologies for the treatment of brain tumors in children, and successfully treat many craniopharyngiomas (a noncancerous brain tumor that develops near the pituitary gland and the brain’s hypothalamus region).
Our physicians are on the faculty of Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, a part of Rutgers University, one of the top research institutions in America. Our doctors are active in research and in teaching about all aspects neurosurgery and brain tumor care. Each brings leading-edge knowledge from the classroom to the exam room.
