Pediatric Nephrology and Hypertension

The Rutgers Health Pediatric Nephrology and Hypertension practice provides compassionate, comprehensive care to infants, children, and teenagers with disorders of the urinary tract, from birth until age 21. We also counsel mothers when a fetal kidney problem is discovered during pregnancy. Because kidney disease often has an association with high blood pressure, we also specialize in the evaluation and treatment of hypertension.

Our practice consists of experienced and caring physicians, outpatient nurses, pediatric nutritionists, and pediatric nephrology nurses. Our nurses understand the difficulty that chronic illness presents to patients and families, and they help coordinate care as well as provide education, guidance, and support throughout a child’s illness. Our nurses work especially closely with teenage patients on compliance with diet and medication, helping to improve understanding of their condition.

Since kidney problems often affect other systems of the body, we work with pediatric specialists throughout Rutgers Health to ensure the proper coordination of all conditions patients may face. We can often coordinate office visits and testing, making it easier for our patients and their families.

Physicians who serve our practice are on the faculty of Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, a part of Rutgers University, one of the top research institutions in America. Each brings leading-edge knowledge from the classroom to the exam room. Our doctors are also active in research and in teaching about all aspects of pediatric medicine as well as pediatric nephrology and hypertension.

If you are a parent of a child with a condition that may relate to the kidneys or high blood pressure, please make an appointment with the Rutgers Health Pediatric Nephrology and Hypertension practice today.
