The Rutgers Health S.T.A.R.T. (Screening, Treatment and Risk Reduction for Teens) program offers health care and social services for young people, ages 12 to 29. Physicians with experience in the care and treatment of HIV in adolescents and young adults lead the S.T.A.R.T. program, which includes nurses, medical assistants, and social workers.

The S.T.A.R.T. program helps manage the primary medical needs of patients, including regular wellness visits, medical diagnosis, lab work, medication, and medical and dental referrals. It also provides comprehensive medical case management services including:

• Assistance with medical insurance and prescription drug applications
• Community-based referrals
• Counseling
• Food
• Social service support
• Transportation
• Treatment adherence counseling

Our patients also have access to mental health counseling in individual, couples, and group therapy sessions. We provide psychiatric referrals as necessary.
