Rutgers Health Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation seeks to improve the health, function, and quality of life of people with acute and chronic neurological and musculoskeletal conditions, as well as disabilities. Our practice includes clinicians and researchers who work at many Rutgers Health locations, as well as affiliated clinical sites throughout New Jersey. Our physicians (physiatrists) care for patients with a range of acute and chronic physical and neurologic disorders, as well as disabling injuries or illnesses, including:

• Amputation
• Brain injury
• Cancer
• Changes with aging
• Musculoskeletal/sports injuries and pain
• Orthopaedic trauma
• Spinal cord injury
• Stroke

Our practice takes an interdisciplinary approach to manage conditions and restore function, reduce morbidity, improve quality of life, and help patients and families understand the impact of conditions. We reach these goals through diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, which often include injections to the limbs or spine in combination with electrodiagnostic procedures (electromyography, also known as EMG or electrical stimulation) or radiographic (fluoroscopic or ultrasound) guidance.

Physicians who serve our practice are on the faculty of Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, a part of Rutgers University, one of the top research institutions in America. Our physicians are leaders in the field and are active in researching and teaching about all aspects of physical medicine and rehabilitation.
