Hospitalist Service
Rutgers Health has hospitalist services for patients and families at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) in New Brunswick, NJ, and University Hospital (UH) in Newark, NJ. The Rutgers Health Hospitalist Service includes physician-led teams that provide comprehensive medical care to inpatients, and teams with expertise in managing the challenges that patients may face.
Our hospitalists are physicians who look after adult Rutgers Health patients. They also treat adults on behalf of primary care doctors who do not have privileges at RWJUH or UH. Our hospitalists are on the faculty of Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School or Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Both are part of Rutgers University, one of the top research institutions in America. Our doctors are active in research and in teaching about all aspects of family medicine. Each brings life-changing knowledge from the classroom to the exam room.
Care Coordinators
Our hospitalists collaborate with other members of the medical staff at RWJUH or UH for patient care. This collaboration occurs while patients are in the hospital, and when preparing patients and families for outpatient care. Patients who complete treatment at the hospital will be discharged back into the care of a primary care physician. For patients who do not have a primary care doctor, we can provide recommendations.
If you or a loved one becomes a patient at either RWJUH or UH, the Rutgers Health Hospitalist Service will provide compassionate care.
