Psychiatry Clinical Services

Rutgers Health Psychiatry provides clinical services including emergency, inpatient, and consultation liaison services for adults, children, and adolescents at a variety of locations in Newark.

Outpatient Services

We provide psychiatric and psychological consultations and services in the Behavioral Health Sciences Building at 183 South Orange Avenue in Newark. Our doctors have a range of expertise in psychiatry, neuropsychological assessment, and psychology.

Emergency and Inpatient Services

We staff the University Hospital (UH) Psychiatric Emergency Service to provide acute care and stabilization in a six-bed psychiatric emergency services unit. We also administer inpatient psychiatric services at UH where a multidisciplinary team provides a variety of psychiatric treatments.

Consultation Liaison Service

Our physicians consult with medical and surgical teams at UH. Our neuropsychologists also provide assessments and testing for patients with learning disabilities, traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, and other disorders.

Physicians who provide our clinical services are on the faculty of Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, a part of Rutgers University, one of the top research institutions in America. Many are active in research and teach about all aspects of psychiatry. Each brings life-changing knowledge from the classroom to the exam room.

If you or a loved one seeks psychiatric emergency and inpatient services, or consultation liaison services, Rutgers Health Psychiatry Clinical Services can help.
