Medical Critical Care Services
Rutgers Health Medical Critical Care Services provide care for critically ill patients who have complex, multisystem, life-threatening diseases. We often treat patients with complex, critical care issues who obtain referrals from primary and secondary care physicians. Many of our patients are admitted to the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ, where we provide treatment.
The diseases we diagnose and manage include:
- Acute gastrointestinal hemorrhage
- Acute liver and kidney failure
- Acute respiratory failure due to COPD, asthma, pneumonia, and ARDS
- Endocrine emergencies
- Hypovolemic and distributive shock
- Intracranial hemorrhage
- Life-threatening infections
- Severe pancreatitis
- Severe sepsis
- Status epilepticus
- Strokes
