Emergency and Trauma Radiology
Rutgers Health radiologists are available around the clock to provide timely, expert interpretations for all imaging examinations performed in an emergency department setting, as well as to consult regarding hospitalized patients who may require emergency imaging.
Our emergency radiologists are on the faculty of Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, part of Rutgers University, one of the top research institutions in America. These providers have expertise in emergency imaging of patients of all ages using various techniques--including X-rays, CT scans, MRI, and ultrasound—to diagnose a wide variety of conditions including:
- Abdominal or pelvic emergencies including blockages of the intestines or kidneys, appendicitis, diverticulitis, cholecystitis, pancreatitis, and pregnancy complications
- Chest emergencies including pneumonia, pulmonary embolism, and aortic dissection
- Head and neck emergencies, such as facial or throat abscess
- Neurological emergencies, including advanced, time-sensitive imaging at our Comprehensive Stroke Centers
- Traumatic emergencies to the body, including imaging of severely injured patients treated at our busy trauma centers
Our dedicated emergency radiologists are active in medical student and resident education and participate in research and education at the national level. This academic engagement enables bringing leading-edge technology and insights to best serve our patients.
