Dr Hajifathalian completed his medical degree (MD) at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, followed by his fellowships in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Cornell University NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in New York. He then completed his fellowship in advanced at therapeutic endoscopy at Cornell University NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Hajifathalian is board certified in the areas of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He received his MPH in Quantitative Methods from Harvard University, School of Public Health. His research focuses on the role of minimally invasive endoscopic procedures in the management of obesity and chronic liver and biliary disease, as well as development and evaluation of cutting-edge advanced endoscopic techniques. Dr. Hajifathalian has published more than 60 papers in prestigious scientific journals and his work has been cited more than 14,000 times by other researchers in the field. Dr. Hajifathalian is an associate editor for Foregut, the official journal of the American Foregut Society, and is a member of various medical associations such as the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and the Director of the Advanced Endoscopy at Rutgers University Hospital.
