Dr Onajovwe Fofah MD, FAAP is the Medical Director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Newborn Services at University Hospital, Newark and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Rutgers- New Jersey Medical School. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in General Pediatrics and Neonatal- Perinatal Medicine. He graduated from the University of Ilorin Medical School, Nigeria in June 1984 and moved to the USA in 1991 where he trained in Pediatrics at UMDNJ-NJMS and Children Hospital of NJ, Newark, NJ from 1992 through 1995 and Fellowship in Neonatal Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/ Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, NY from 1995 through 1998. Post Fellowship, he moved to the Chicago area where he practiced in the Illinois Northwest Regional Perinatal Center from 1998 through 2005 as an Attending Neonatologist. He was recruited back to the East coast in October 2005 as a Faculty of the New Jersey Medical School. He was involved with the Vermont Oxford Network quality collaborative initiative (a National Quality project for Neonatal Intensive Care Units) while in Illinois and was voted by peers and patients as one of the best Doctors in Northwest Illinois. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Palliative and Hospice Medicine, the NJ consortium of Palliative Care and the NICU consortium of NJ. He has submitted several abstracts, published papers and written chapters in the field
