The Rutgers Health Ambulatory Surgical Center performs about 6,500 same day surgery procedures each year. Our physicians are experts in administering anesthesia for outpatient procedures and providing care.

Patients in our center receive preadmission testing, which includes a preoperative assessment by an anesthesiologist. That determines the practicality and safety of performing a procedure in an outpatient setting. We create a comprehensive plan for anesthesia management, which aids smooth and rapid recovery, and helps patients to return home the same day. Our anesthesiology team also determines the readiness of patients for release from the recovery room.

The center has five operating rooms, a recovery room, and its own admissions area. Our location is in the Doctors Office Complex in Newark, NJ, within proximity of University Hospital.
