Cardiac Anesthesiology
The Rutgers Health Cardiac Anesthesiology practice provides care for patients who are undergoing heart or thoracic vascular surgery at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. Our cardiac anesthesiologists are board certified and on the faculty of Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, a part of Rutgers University, one of the top research institutions in America. Most are active in teaching and research, and each brings life-changing knowledge from journals and the classroom to the exam room.
Our cardiac anesthesiologists are active in patient care before, during, and after procedures. A cardiac anesthesiologist will:
- continually monitor vital functions during and immediately following surgery, and will make medical decisions on a patient’s behalf as necessary
- ensure your comfort during surgery with anesthesia that meets your specific medical condition and current health issues
- manage patient care, including any pre-existing conditions, throughout surgery and immediately after
- manage pain during the immediate post-operative period to help patients be as comfortable as possible
- provide expert consultation on issues pertaining to your care, including pain management, anticoagulation, and airway management
