Arrhythmia Diagnosis and Treatment Program
The Rutgers Health Arrhythmia Diagnosis and Treatment program deals with heart arrhythmias (irregular heart rhythms) and related disorders. Conditions we evaluate and treat include:
- Atrial fibrillation
- Atrial flutter
- Fainting
- Inherited arrhythmias
- Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC)
- Brugada syndrome
- Long QT syndrome
- Premature atrial contractions
- Premature ventricular contractions
- Sinus node dysfunction
- Supraventricular tachycardia
- Wolf-Parkinson-White syndrome
- Ventricular fibrillation
- Ventricular tachycardia
We also provide the following services:
- Cardioversion (electric shocks to the heart through electrodes on the chest to restore normal heart rhythm)
- Catheter ablation (a procedure that can correct heart rhythm problems) including epicardial ablations
- Device placement for left atrial appendage occlusion to reduce stroke risk
- Electrocardiography (recording electrical charges in the heart)
- Laser lead extractions
- Pacemaker and defibrillator placement, including remote monitoring and device evaluation
- Tilt table testing (to determine why there may be a decrease in oxygen reaching the brain)
