Hepatology and Liver Disease

The liver performs more than 100 different functions, but as a complex organ it is also susceptible to many diseases. Liver problems can be genetic, be the result of disease, or may have a connection to environmental factors. Some liver problems may resolve on their own, but others can lead to serious complications that – if left untreated – can progress to liver failure.

The physicians of the Rutgers Health Hepatology and Liver Disease practice are leaders in treating liver-related disorders. Our physicians excel in the evaluation and treatment of adults with common and complex liver problems, and we offer state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Our physicians are faculty members of Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School or Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Both are part of Rutgers University, one of the top research institutions in America. Our doctors are involved in research and in teaching about all aspects of hepatology and liver disease. Each brings leading-edge knowledge from the classroom to the exam room.
